Speed is what the Z06 was designed for. The 2008 Corvette is a refreshed version of Generation 6 and includes a number of updates led by an all-new LS3 6. On December 19, 2007, General Motors officially revealed the 2009 Corvette ZR1, giving a press release and photographs of the car. It features a smaller-diameter ignition-triggering reluctor wheel and a nine-bolt flange - the outer face of the crankshaft on which the flywheel is mounted - that provides more clamping strength. The second pace car will be the Corvette 30th Anniversary Pace Car featuring a black exterior with silver graphics honoring the 1978 model - no word yet on who'll be driving that one.

The exhaust system option on ’08 Coupe and Convertible models is a new, two-mode performance exhaust system. The Z06 is not for those who favor quiet power and performance. A Corvette variant was first reported by several print and online publications, based on rumor from General Motors was developing a production version of the Corvette above the Z06 level, under the internal code name Blue Devil (named after GM CEO Rick Wagoner's alma mater, Duke University). The LS9 is hand-assembled at GM’s Performance Build Center and incorporates specialty processes typically seen in racing engines to produce a highly refined and precise product. Though not a factory option, speed-hungry buyers could order a car with a new Callaway Twin-Turbo Engine package through participating dealers.
The Chevrolet Corvette C6 is bound to surpass all expectations, providing customers with impeccable comfort, refined handling and powerful performance. According to GM, this is much better than such competitors as the Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano (11 city / 15 highway); the Lamborghini Murcielago (8 city / 13 highway) and the Aston Martin V8 Vantage (12 city / 19 highway) may provide. It is capable of producing an awesome 505 HP and 470lb-ft torque. A six-speed manual transmission is standard, with the six-speed paddle-shift automatic optional.
All models get interior trim enhancements-a wrapped center trim plate, new doorsill plates, and brushed aluminum accents are the biggies. The 2007 Corvette is the overlapping sports car, dollar for dollar, in the world. The new keyless entry means you keep the fancy fob in your pocket; just grab the little rubber pad behind the door and pull.

The Corvette is like the kid that CAN kick everybody’s butt, yet never shows it. It was impressive in its day, but is far overshadowed by contemporary engines. The standard 18-inch front wheels and 19-inch rear wheels feature a Sparkle Silver finish, with a Competition Gray version optional.
