C6 Corvette Bumper - What Bumper?

Of course today's Corvette, an outright bargain when compared to sports cars from Europe, should be acknowledged as well. Added to this power are subtle styling features that put this Victory Red Corvette convertible on an even faster track. A subtle checkered flag pattern also is part of the paint scheme. Corvette engineers wanted to create a car that is more agile, more "place able" and "toss able" on the racetrack, while also making it more comfortable in daily driving. This car better be faster than a regular Z06–and I would expect that it would be with an extra 95bhp–because it’s pretty flawed as a concept.

It has two-modes of operation and is similar in design and function to the system used on the Z06. That means raw performance, improved ride comfort, a precisely built and technically sophisticated interior and contemporary new body. Its lightweight seats, shaped to firmly secure the driver and passenger when cornering, are leather clad and heated. It’s too close to call, but the Corvettes price advantage, which even at $70,000 is thousands less than a comparably equipped Porsche 911 continues to give it an edge to the uncommitted buyer. Similar in design and function to the system used on the Z06, the dual-mode exhaust uses vacuum-actuated outlet valves, which control engine noise during low-load operation, but open for maximum performance during high-load operation.

In addition to the larger engine, the Corvette Z06 has a dry sump oiling system, a feature typically found only on race cars and sport bikes. Equipped with an automatic transmission, the Corvette achieves 18/26 mpg (city/highway), and the manual transmission is slightly better at 18/28. But apparently that wasn't enough for the boys at GM. Furthermore, head extractors have also been put behind the front tires for better breathing.

In addition to the exterior cues and power train, ZR1 models will be distinguished from other Corvette models by their VIN. The ZR1 is an obvious indication of their intentions, but they can only do so much with this platform. Found on only a few exotics and more expensive supercars, carbon-ceramic brake rotors are made of a carbon-fiber-reinforced ceramic silicon carbide material. It could have been a quirk in my test car, but it makes you wonder how touchy the dry sump oiling system is in day-to-day driving.

Chevrolet hopes the new design will attract buyers of comparable European sports cars like the Porsche 911, but some purists dislike the new styling. The dry-sump oil system on the Z06 LS7 engine prevents oil starvation on high-g corners or under heavy braking. The Corvette Z06 is one of the fastest production cars in the world.

The 2008 Corvette is more agile and easier to toss around than the previous-generation model, benefits of its lighter weight, trimmer proportions, and refined suspension. Speed is what the Z06 was designed for. In addition to the exterior color scheme, the anniversary models are equipped with a special, two-tone titanium-color interior, with the Indianapolis 500 logo embroidered on the seats. The Corvette Z06 is a true supercar for a price that's merely expensive, as opposed to insanely expensive.

The 2007 Corvette is the overlapping sports car, dollar for dollar, in the world. The ZR-1 will instantly develop cult status and deservedly so! Once your done dressing up your engine and improving its performance, improve your Corvette's appearance further with Corvette Styling and performance with Corvette Wheels and Tires.

Meanwhile, a second special edition Corvette, designed to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the iconic 1978 Corvette Indy 500 pace car with a similar black and silver design, will also be on hand. Taut purposeful iconic styling as befits its status and an all-American automotive icon, the 2008 C6 retains the unmistakably distinctive design cues of the modern Corvette, subtly incorporating recent refinements. There are also a host of exterior and interior refinements that raise the Corvette's luxury status and enhance the feeling of craftsmanship.

Commensurate with the ZR1's engine output is the braking system, which is headlined by carbon-ceramic brake rotors. Corvette Specialty has a large parts inventory to support our service side for all years of Corvettes allowing a quick delivery. Chevy does not make an E85 Corvette but this concept may hint at future plans from Chevy's gas friendly to gas free strategy. The magnesium cradle helps improve the front-to-rear weight distribution, as do carbon-fiber front fenders and wheelhouses.
